The two videos provided a lot of information that are helpful in defining the components of a literature review. Literature reviews are a good way to display what you have learned through your research. I like how Dr. Classen described literature reviews as a “chain story”. When doing a literature review you are able to analyze information that you have researched from several sources and then make your connections.
I have decided that I wanted to focus my action research on the effectiveness of smartboards (interactive white boards) and how they impact student learning. Smartboards have become very popular and many schools are working to get them in every classroom. I am in the early stage of researching but I have found there are several articles on smartboards. I have to narrow down the articles I have found that are relevant to the effectiveness of teachers using smartboards.
Literature reviews have several steps and it is important to analyze the articles to help focus my research. I will essentially I will take the annotated bibliographies I will write and use them to create my literature review. The literature review will contain research on the topic along with my views and research that I will complete on the topic. I agree with the end of the video, Literature reviews can be intimidating at first. I hope that I will be able to take the components taught in these videos to help break down the process of writing a review.
